Frequently Asked Questions...

Shipping

When will I receive my package?

We ship your packages in 2-3 business days. This does not include the postal transit time which usually takes 3-5 business days. We're a small 2 person team, so it might take a little longer during peak and holiday season. Expect delays during holiday season.

Where is my package?

If the above times have passed and your didn't receive your package, please e-mail us at hello@zilchapothecary.com. If you think your package may have been lost or stolen, contact your local post office. If no luck, the USPS site can help you file a claim for your missing package. Since we are such a small business, we are not responsible for lost or stolen packages once your package has been declared "Delivered" by the carrier in the United States.

I put in the wrong address, what do I do?

If we've not shipped your order yet, send us an email at hello@zilchapothecary.com with your order number and the correct address and we will change it for you before shipping. If you gave us the wrong address, and we have already shipped your order, there is nothing we can do until it is returned to us, after which the customer is responsible for additional shipping fee. If the address does not exist, the package will be re-routed to us. Once we receive it, we will send you a shipping invoice via email for your package to be re-shipped to you. If you provide an incorrect address that exists, there is nothing we could help you with. So we do strongly recommend that you check your address before confirming it. Thank you for understanding :)

Do you accept any returns or exchanges?

Due to the nature of our products, we do not offer any returns or exchanges, nor offer refunds. But if you are unsatisfied with your order, please feel free to send us an email at hello@zilchapothecary.com and we will be happy to work something out for you!

Are your products organic?

Ingredients that can be found organic, we source organic. Our products are not yet "certified" organic as we're a very small business and plan to do it in the future as we grow. Nonetheless, all our ingredients are sourced consciously, sustainably, and ethically.

Why are your products expensive?

There's no denying that are products are pricier than the plastic alternatives available conventionally. We price our products based on many factors to cover the high expenses of producing them : quality ingredients, sustainable packaging and shipping materials, fair trade operations, research and development costs, and marketing expenses. We source the best available version of each ingredients available out there, for YOU. We look for purity, organic certifications, local sourcing, fair trade, etc. If an ingredient can be sourced organic, we buy it. Unfortunately the prices for organic ingredients are way higher than the non-organic versions. This is because of safe methods being used while growing them without pesticides and chemicals, fair trade operations and how the employees are treated. In addition to this, since our products are made with only all-natural ingredients, our prices are higher. Not to forget the product packaging and shipping materials. We package our products in glass jars, compostable tubes, and seed paper labels. The cost of these materials is 10x or even more times than the plastic alternatives. All of these costs  are included while we determine a product price. Coming to the scent, we source 100% organic and pure therapeutic grade essential oils. We don't use synthetic fragrance oils in any of our products. There is tremendous amount of effort and research in producing each of our products and we are proud to be doing so. Both for you and the environment.

Are your products tested on animals?

We test the products on ourselves :) We are a cruelty-free business. So NO, we don't support animal cruelty; our products will never be tested on animals. All of our ingredients are unrefined, natural, and pure.

How about palm oil? Are your products free of palm oil?

We don't use palm oil in any of our products. Generally speaking, palm oil makes for a good skin/hair care product. It restores hydration and nourishes your skin. So what's the big deal about it being unsustainable? It's extremely cheap and easy to grow palm. Hence the global consumption of this vegetable oil is rising up and up that leads to global warming. The biggest impact of unsustainable palm oil production is the large-scale devastation of tropical forests. As well as widespread habitat loss for endangered species like Asian rhinos, elephants, tigers and orangutans, this can lead to significant soil erosion.
